In a sense, the Horst Wessel Song was an official national anthem. The following description from David's National Anthems Page is historically correct:

Quote:
The "Horst-Wessel-Lied" was recognised as a national symbol by a law issued on May 19, 1933, after having been adopted as the party song of the Nazi party in 1931. Therefore it had an equal status with the "Lied der Deutschen", so in fact Nazi Germany had a double anthem, consisting of the first verse of the "Lied der Deutschen", followed by the "Horst-Wessel-Lied". The anthem was prohibited in use by the allies in 1945, and this fact remains in Germany today.

Some time ago I downloaded another German vocal version from this site, which is no longer there. If anyone is interested in it I'm willing to send it out.

The main versions of "Das Horst-Wessel-Lied" in other languages are:
Danish: Hold Fanen Höjt (The banner high)
English: Comrades the voices
French: "Le drapeau en tęte" (The banner high)
Italian 1: "La bandiera in alto" (The banner high)
Italian 2: "Č l'ora di marciar" (It is time to march). This is from the R.S.I. era
Spanish: "Camisa azul" (Blue shirt)

Currently the Chilean Navy ("Armada de Chile") has a song titled "Himno de la Agrupación de Comandos IM N° 51" that use the melody of "Das Horst-Wessel-Lied". Obviously with different words. The Chilean Armed Forces ("Fuerzas Armadas de Chile") have many Hymns and Marches of well known German melodies.
