Onze roemrijke vaad'ren gedenken
Is uw bodem hier klein
Ginds toch wacht u een strand
Als een wereld zo groot
Waar uw vlag staat geplant

Immer vooruit, dappere telgen!
Moedig en vrij, vast hand in hand.
God omsluite in zijn zegen der Belgen
Vorst en Land

Translation by A.R. van de Loo

To Far and Wide

The time speeds away and already defines the avenue.
Wherever new times beckon us,
we follow proudly and shall along this path
remember our illustrious fathers.
Is your territory here too small?
Yonder surely awaits a shore
as big as a world
where your flag has been planted.

Ever forward, brave offspring!
Courageous and free, steady, hand in hand.
God includes in his blessing of the Belgians
King and Country.

Complete French words:

Vers l'Avenir

Refrain
Va sans faiblir, peuple énergique,
Vers des destins dignes de toi.
Dieu saura protéger la Belgique
Et son Roi !

This translation is from Babel Fish (altavista)

Towards the Future The century goes and poses its stakes, marking Us a new stage. We follow it and we remember Our aïeux and their immortal glory. If your ground is small, in a new world the future which calls you planted your flag.

Merry walk, energetic people, Worms of the destinies worthy of you. God protects free Belgium And his King!

Your long peace as far as long combat With work exerted your valiancy, And your progress said to each step Your genius and your proud endurance. If your force overflows and crosses its levels, Verse it, like a river, in new worlds!

Walk bold, energetic people, Worms of the destinies worthy of you. God will be able to protect Belgium And his King!

Ô Holy Land, ô ground of aïeux, Their sweats and their blood kneaded you, And far or close will know their pious sons Honorer, to widen the Fatherland. If brothers from go away, it is per thousands Which, faithful guards, will defend your hearths.

Goes without weakening, energetic people, Vers of the destinies worthy of you. God will be able to protect Belgium And his King!

Strangely enough, Babel Fish translates the words "Vers des destins" in two different ways. One ("Worms of the destinies") is nonsensical, the other leaves "Vers" untranslated. It should be "Towards the destiny".

"Ô terre sainte, ô terre des aïeux" means "O sacred soil, o soil of our ancestors".

Complete Dutch words (in contrast to the French version, the refrain is not modified):

Naar Wijd en Zijd

1
Waar ook nieuwere tijden ons wenken;
Onze roemrijke vaad'ren gedenken.

Refrein
Immer vooruit, dappere telgen,
Moedig en vrij, vast hand in hand;

Door hun zweet en hun bloed ons verkregen;
Hunne zonen bewaren in zegen.

Refrein
